MARISSA MCLENDON OPLOTNIK
Marissa McLendon Oplotnik is a native from Hurley, MS where she grew up studying dance at Robinson’s School of Dance, The Centre’ for the Performing Arts, and Mobile Ballet. She graduated from the University of South Alabama with her Bachelors in Business Administration with a concentration in Service Management.
While attending South Alabama, Marissa was a member of the Prowler’s Dance Team and took courses in Ballet and Ballroom. Marissa has danced for Imperial Palace, Beau Rivage, and Hard Rock Casino in concerts, events and clubs featuring Kid Rock, Bret Michaels and local bands on the Gulf Coast. She performed in the show “Merry Christmas…Baby!” at IP Casino featuring American Idol’s Kimberly Caldwell where she worked with costume designer Marcea and was pictured in South Mississippi Living magazine. She also performed in “Balagan”, a cirque style show, where she worked with artists from the Moscow Circus, some of which toured with Britney Spears during her “Circus” album. She first performed in “Balagan” at the Beau Rivage Casino in Biloxi and then went to perform in Chicago. In January 2011, she toured Spain with the show visiting Madrid, Saragossa, Seville and Malaga.
Marissa has been training in all areas of dance for eighteen years and has been instructing for twelve. She has taught and choreographed for many studios, middle schools and high schools on the Gulf Coast. Marissa has also worked with competition Dance Magic Inc. as an adjudicator and choreographed the Curtain Call Opening Number for two consecutive years. She is thrilled to be back on the Gulf Coast with her husband, instructing dance, which is what she truly loves to do.
